STATE OF THE ART HEATING SYSTEMS
At Triple Crown we pride ourselves in staying on the cutting edge of our industry.
Whether your fuel is oil or gas, if you have old fashioned radiators or new radiant
heat, we can custom-design the perfect system for you. With the astronomical rise
in fuel costs the last few years, our clients are getting on-board because they
realize that the extra money invested now will secure a quick R.O.I. (return on
investment). Even if you don't plan on staying in your current home, new hi-efficient
systems that we can install are a great selling point for prospective homeowners.
Thirty percent (30%) savings on fuel usage are almost always certain. Forty to fifty
percent (40-50%) savings are achieved quite often.
How is that possible, you ask? At Triple Crown, we take the time to do a computerized
Heat Loss Calculation of your entire home or building. We measure your windows,
doors, and check for insulation and air infiltration. All these factors determine
how much heat is required to keep the building warm on the coldest days of winter.
The vast majority of contractors - even though we are in the 21st Century will not
take the time to do this. They will take a look at the old boiler, copy down a few
numbers and put in something close or worse - and all too often - larger than you
need. Why? They are afraid to get "THAT" call on the coldest day of the
year: "....our house is freezing....the boiler is running non-stop...is there
anything you can do?" At Triple Crown, we are not afraid to do the math and
see EXACTLY what sized boiler is needed. We don't use Rules of Thumb. Other contractors
would rather play it safe and not get that call. What's wrong with that? They aren't
the ones who will be stuck paying the fuel bill every month...a bill that is unnecessarily
high. Through our consulting service, we see recently-installed boilers that are
1,2, 3, and even 4!!!! times bigger than they need to be. Unfortunately, once a
boiler is installed it will cost you just as much - or more - to replace with the
proper-sized unit.
OUTDOOR RESET
What is outdoor reset (ODR). Outdoor reset is a heating control tactic and strategy
that uses an outdoor sensor that feeds back temperature information to the microprocessor
(The Brain) on the boiler's board. The boiler will then fire up to a temperature
that it calculates automatically. For example, on a 50 degree day you need only
take the chill out of the building. A 145 degree temperature circulating through
the radiators might be able to achieve this. Standard, off the shelf boilers, fire
up to a maximum temperature of 180-190 degrees...WHETHER IT NEEDS TO OR NOT! Those
40-50 degrees saved stay in your pocket instead of being wasted. The biggest savings
are achieved during the "shoulder" seasons, spring and fall.
The less the burner fires, the more fuel is conserved.
